Alabama
is one of the states making up the United
States of America. Located on the south
east side of the country the state of
Alabama has a hot and sticky climate.
It has a connection to the Gulf of Mexico
by way of a small “foot” of
land in the southern part of the state.
Many different tribes of Native Americans
once inhabited Alabama, but over time
they were either exterminated or pushed
out of the area. The first Europeans to
lay claim to the area were the Spanish,
but the French and the British held claim
to the land before the United States of
America eventually won its independence
from the British Empire.

When
the American Civil War broke out in the
middle of the 18th century Alabama joined
the side known as “the confederates”.
It was one of the main areas that saw
fighting, but in the end the Confederation
and Alabama lost the war. There are many
in Alabama who still look to this day
with shame.
