                                        Diego’s Pacific Beach (or merely
“PB” to the locals) is sort
of like Los Angeles’s Venice Beach.
Once an area for college kids and the
surfing crowd, it is now turning into
a more professional and affluent due to
rising property and rental costs. Being
a fairly clean area of the city, Pacific
Beach it is often frequented by tourists,
but there is also a strong showing from
the local military base, whose super fit
bodies with razor sharp tans can bee seen
miles away. The area is also one of the
                                        city’s entertainment districts,
with dozens of bars and eateries lining
main east-west street. With a boardwalk that stretches for miles,
the area is crowded with people during
the day and crammed with people during
the weekend. Unlike many other areas of
                                        southern California, alcohol is permitted
on the beach in Pacific Beach during certain
hours, which naturally makes it a popular
                                        spot for some serious parties.

lot of the official “beach scene”
centers around a place called “The
Crystal Pier”. One of the larger
wooden piers in California, it is home
to a hotel. People renting a room can
drive their car out on the pier at night
and sleep over the waves. The view from
the pier is spectacular and definitely
worth a visit, especially during the day.
