At
one time Times Square was the headquarters
of the Newspaper The New York Times, and
that’s how this open area of city
got its name. Centering on 42nd Street
and Broadway, the street consists of the
blocks between Sixth and Ninth Avenue
from east to west and 39th and 52nd Streets
from south to north. Time Square is located
in an area called Midtown Manhattan, which
is known for its busy attitude and is
also known to be one of the nerve centers
of New York City. Times Square is used
for many official ceremonies and is a
popular setting for books, movies, music
videos, and television shows. Because
of its relationship to Broadway Street
there are many major theaters near Times
Square.

Times
Square is easy to recognize because it
is lit up like an airport. While most
of New York City is bright, Times Square
is covered with video boards, neon signs,
and other infamous electric light-makers.

Eve party is held every year, and people
count down the seconds until the ball
drops.
