The
Treasure Island Hotel and Casino, known
to those who have been there by the name
                                        “ti” (initials in small case
with no periods between them), is one
                                        of the flasher “theme” casinos
in Las Vegas. If you’ve seen shows
on The Discovery Channel and The Learning
Channel about Las Vegas, you will have
heard of the Treasure Island. Almost all
of those shows choose to focus on a select
group of casinos, and for a good reason!

It’s no accident that the Treasure
Island is on that list; the casino features
a giant lagoon out front that acts as
a giant gurgling stage for a series of
shows. The current show is called “The
Sirens of TI”, and involves men
                                        with curiously visible “six-packs”
                                        being “seduced” by what look
like showgirls (the sirens) in flowing
                                        costumes. The cove features explosions,
free live shows, a sinking pirate ship,
                                        and award winning choreography.

                                        If
you decided to go into the Treasure Island”
you will find (gasp) thousands of square
feet of gaming including craps, poker,
blackjack, and slots as far as the eye
can see. A quote form their web site says
                                        it best: “Supplying accommodations
of over 2,800 rooms and 220 suites in
Las Vegas, TI provides AAA Four Diamond
Award Winning Service, over 90,000 square
                                        feet of gaming opportunities, delectable
                                        dining establishments, is connected by
tram to The Mirage, and is one of the
hottest nightlife spots on the Las Vegas
Strip.” It is probably no coincidence
that The Mirage has a watery volcano show,
because the two fit together perfectly.
It goes something like: [BOOM] “Wow,
                                        look the ship is sinking…”
                                        [BOOM] “Whoa! Look, that volcano
thing just went off.” [BOOM] “Hey,
there was a guy on that ship…”
                                        [BOOM] “Hey, that’s real fire!”
…And so on and so on until you either
get tired of watching, get tired of standing,
or get tired of Vegas in general. In short,
the Treasure Island is an excellent place
to visit if you’re on the strip
and an excellent reason to go to Las Vegas.
